Darshan's Kaatera will hit Zee5 on 9 February

Directed by Tharun Kishore Sudhir and produced by Rockline Venkatesh, Kaatera grossed ₹100 crore at the box office.

Released in the final week of 2023, Kaatera is undoubtedly one of the biggest hits of Kannada films in the recent past.

Though not a pan-India venture, the film recently completed its 25-day theatrical run and is still going strong at the box office.

The blockbuster film will hit the OTT space on 9 February. It will be premiered on Zee5.

Based on a real-life incident from the late 1970s, Kaatera talks about farmers and social issues. Jadesh Kumar Hampi and Tharun Kishore Sudhir have co-written the script.

The film is set in the period when the law—”Tiller is the owner of the land“—was introduced.

Kaatera also marks the debut of Aradhanaa Ram, daughter of Malashree and noted Kannada producer late Ramu.

With its remarkable run in 196 theatres and 63 multiplexes, the Kannada film is now headed for a digital premiere.

The farmer’s community has widely appreciated the movie for capturing the essence of their issues.

As the film completed 25 days at the box office, the farmers’ association recently honoured Darshan with the title  “Bhoomi Putra”.

Also, Kaatera recently won seven awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Debut Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Dialogue, and Best Choreographer at the fifth Chandanavana Film Critics Academy Awards.
