Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare to release with Ramya playing a cameo

In a huge relief to the makers of Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare, the Kannada film will release with no changes tomorrow, 21 July.

And guess what? The movie will also feature Ramya, who recently filed a suit against the makers, in a cameo role.

A Bengaluru court on Thursday, 20 July, cleared the legal hurdles for the release of Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare by lifting the injunction order it passed two days ago.

Injunction order lifted

Film’s director Nithin Krishnamurthy told South First that the court vacated the ex-parte interim injunction order it passed on Tuesday, 18 July.

It restrained the makers from releasing the flick with any of Ramya’s video clips/images/GIFs incorporated directly or indirectly in the film until the suit is disposed of.

It also directed them to take down all trailers, which were released featuring Ramya, from various social media platforms.

Conditions apply

However, the court while vacating its interim orders of injunction has ordered that it is subject to the condition that defendants —Gulmohar Films Private Ltd, Varun Kumar Gowda and Nithin Krishnamurthy, shall offer security for an amount of ₹50 lakh by way of deposit or by way of bank guarantee to meet any claim of the plaintiff (Ramya) for compensation for breach of contract within one week (27 July).

Agreement honoured

Countering the allegations made by actor-producer Ramya that the makers violated the artistic agreement, director Nithin said, “We honoured the bound agreement signed by Ramya ma’am. As per the agreement, she was aware that she is acting in the film and not just part of the promotions.”

The director further explained that they were exactly not sure about why such a claim was made, but since the court gave them the green signal for the release, they are gearing up for the grand theatrical release of Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare tomorrow, 21 July.

Cameo of 90 second

Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare doesn’t mark the comeback of Ramya. At the most, Ramya will appear for about 90 seconds in the film,” Nithin added.

Its producer Varun told the media that he was baffled by the fact Ramya approached the court.

“She was very sweet on the sets. In fact, while interacting with the media in the past, she (Ramya) praised our young team for all the efforts put in to make this movie. I was surprised when I got to know that she filed a suit against us.”

Varun noted that a misunderstanding could have led to this situation and clarified that the film unit was not upset with the actor.
