Manjummel Boys has won the hearts of audiences. The sensational Malayalam movie collected over ₹80 crore worldwide in 11 days of its release.
But the major highlight is it is doing wonders at the Tamil Nadu box office.
It has an occupancy rate of 75 percent in Kerala theatres and 74 percent in Tamil Nadu theatres.
The references to the Tamil cult movie Guna (1991) and Kamal Hassan are the selling points for the flick in Tamil Nadu.

Manjummel Boys saw great bookings over the weekend. Its overall gross collection in Tamil Nadu crossed ₹10 crore, the first-ever for a Malayalam movie.
The multiplexes in Chennai are running houseful similar to a big-budget Tamil film. Even in small towns like Tirupur and Trichy, the film is running to packed houses.
According to trade experts, Manjummel Boys earned up to ₹15 crore in 11 days from 221 screens. It collected ₹46 crore from the domestic market alone.
Tamil directors Karthik Subbaraj and Venkat Prabhu appreciated the movie.
Addressing an event, Venkat Prabhu said Manjummel Boys getting a better response than Tamil films indicates that the Tamil audience welcomes films, irrespective of the language barrier.

Following the grand success in the Tamil market, team Manjummel Boys met Kamal Hassan in Chennai, after the veteran actor watched the movie. Raj Kamal International released a video of their interaction.
Kamal Hassan said he liked the movie and was curious to watch the placement of “Kanmani Anbodu” song in the film.
The team also visited actors Dhanush, Vikram, and Siddharth during their Chennai visit.

With Manjummel Boys being a tremendous hit in Tamil Nadu, Kamal Haasan fans and filmgoers are demanding the re-release of Guna.
Director Santhana Bharati also expressed his wish to re-release the movie. Surprisingly, Guna was not a super hit upon its release in 1991.
Cinematographer Venu, who worked on Guna, told a YouTube channel that they had a tough time shooting Guna inside the Devil’s Kitchen (Guna Cave). “It was Kamal Hassan’s daring act to shoot the film and I supported him.”
Venu also recalled that the producer was not okay with filming in such a dangerous location.
Manjummel Boys has the potential to enter the ₹100-crore club.
At the same time, Premalu has earned around ₹80 crore in 24 days and Bramayugam over ₹57 crore. All these February releases are doing exceptionally well in theatres.
Hopes are running high for Thankamani (releasing on 8 March) and Aadujeevitham (releasing on 28 March).
Not many major releases are there this month due to Ramzan fasting and the February releases will continue in Kerala theatres.
