Suhas' next is Ambajipeta Marriage Band

Young actor Suhas has gained acclaim for his content-oriented and diverse film choices, thus carving a unique identity on the Telugu silver screen.

Be it his role of Jayakrishna in Colour Photo (2020) or Bhushan in Writer Padmabhushan (2023), all struck an inseparable chord with the Telugu audience.

Suhas’ upcoming film Ambajipeta Marriage Band, a quirky romantic comedy tale, is scheduled to hit the theatres on 2 February.

Ahead of his film’s release, the actor closeted with journalists to share some beautiful insights about the movie.

‘Shaved head, learned to play music band’

“We believe that Ambajipet Marriage Band will be as successful as Writer Padma Bhushan, released in February last year. My wife gave birth to a baby boy recently. It looks like this season would augur well for us,” Suhas said.

To bring realistic appeal to his character in Ambajipeta Marriage Band, the actor learned to play the music band.

He practised a few scenes, over and again, so that they do not seem disconnected from audiences.

Further, the Colour Photo actor donned several makeovers for the movie; he tonsured his head twice.

“We invested our heart and soul in the project for over two years. We believe and hope that two years of hard work will yield good results in the form of success. We shot the film in Amalapuram and Ambajipet towns in coastal Andhra Pradesh. I know the social setting, milieu, and the vibe that the environment exhibits and the local atmosphere. I am well-versed in the Godavari culture and dialect,” Suhas explained.

He added, “I have friends in those places who I frequently visit. Director Dushyanth Katikaneni’s story moved me a lot. During the lockdown period, we would read the script many times and discuss certain points that could grab viewers’ attention.”

Ambajipeta Marriage Band also casts Shivani Nagaram, Goparaju Ramana, Swarnakanth, Nithin Prasanna, Vinay Mahadev, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, and Sharanya Pradeep in key roles.

The movie is a joint production by GA2 Pictures, director Venkatesh Maha’s Mahayana Motion Pictures, and Dhiraj Mogileni Entertainment.

Directed by Dushyanth Katikine, the Telugu film is eagerly anticipated by fans.

Inspired by real incidents in Dushyant’s life

Suhas says the story is drawn from real-life incidents in the life of director Dushyanth Katikine.

The story is inspired by what the filmmaker experienced in his life. The rest were cosmetic touches by taking cinematic liberty.

“The story unfolds its narrative with the year 2007 as its backdrop. It offers a delightful experience for the audience. The story maintains a light-hearted and entertaining tone until 20 minutes before the interval. Thereafter, it transforms into an intense drama with emotional highs,” Suhas revealed.

The films Suhas has done so far were all fun and tugged at the heartstrings of the audience.

“But this movie has a different emotion. When you watch Ambajipeta Marriage Band, you would wonder how I stepped into the shoes of such an emotional character. I have known director Dushyanth since I was acting in short films,” the actor quipped.

He hastened to add, “He (Dushyanth) worked as an assistant director for Dear Comrade (2019) and Umamaheswara Ugrar00pasya (2020).”

Since then, Dushyanth kept asking Suhas to collaborate with him. “However, I told him my film career as a comedian has been so far rewarding. I asked him if he intended to ruin my film career because I am not a hero material,” he guffawed.

“But when Colour Photo was released on OTT, I had no answers to his questions. Luckily, Ambajipeta Marriage Band materialised within no time,” Suhas signed off.
