Pushpa The Rule gets new release date

The highly anticipated Pushpa: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun in the lead, now has a new release date.

The makers have announced that it will hit the theatres worldwide on 6 December.

In a post on X, production company Mythri Movie Makers put out the new release date for Pushpa: The Rule, which was originally scheduled to be released in cinemas on 15 August.

Directed by Sukumar, the movie is a sequel to Pushpa: The Rise, which became a massive blockbuster upon its release in December 2021.

Mythri Movie Makers also issued a statement explaining the reason for postponing the film’s release.

“After the tremendous success of Pushpa: The Rise, our commitment to delivering excellence has grown substantially. We have been working diligently to finish the movie and release it on schedule. However, due to the remaining shoot and subsequent post-production work, we will not be releasing the film on 15 August 2024,” the studio stated.

The company said the decision was made in the best interests of the film, the audience, and all stakeholders. “We aim to deliver an unforgettable big-screen experience without compromising on quality,” the statement added.

Pushpa 2 is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers, in association with Sukumar Writings.

It features music by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Miroslaw Kuba Brozek, and editing by Ruben and Karthika Srinivas.

Pushpa 2 expands to international level: Allu Arjun

Also starring Rashmika Mandanna, Pushpa: The Rise portrayed the rise of a low-wage labourer (Arjun) within the red sandalwood smuggling syndicate, a rare wood found only in the Seshachalam Hills of Andhra Pradesh.

The first instalment set the stage for a confrontation between Arjun’s titular character and Fahadh Faasil‘s menacing inspector, Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat.

Allu Arjun received the National Film Award for his performance in the film last year.

“You can expect a third part as we aim to make it a franchise. We have exciting ideas for the future,” Allu Arjun told Variety.

“In Pushpa 2, you will see a different aspect of Pushpa compared to what you saw in Pushpa 1, as it explores the lower end of the spectrum,” he added.

“Until now, it was confined to a regional level, but now it will expand to a national and international level,” the actor commented on his character in the film.

“In Pushpa (The Rise), police officer Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, portrayed by Fahadh Faasil, becomes a formidable adversary for Pushpa. Their conflict is set to escalate to a significantly larger scale,” Allu Arjun noted.
