Alipiriki Allantha Dooramlo, a small-budget film with newcomers released this Friday, 18 November. Read on to know how the movie, which is completely based in and around the popular pilgrimage centre Tirupati, fares.

Alipiri is a place known to the devotees of Lord Venkateswara who visit Tirumala. As the title suggests, the story of the movie takes place in and around Tirumala and tracks the aspirational and tumultuous life of protagonist Varadhi (Raavan Reddy).

Varadhi is a small-time devotional photo-frame seller who also works as driver-cum-guide for the devotees visiting Tirumala.

Despite putting in all his efforts, he struggles to make ends meet and takes his frustration on his working mother and bedridden father.

Varadhi is in love with Keerthi (Sri Nikita) and aspires to set up a shop in Tirumala, as it guarantees him a reliable livelihood. For that, he works hard and saves money.

At a time when things are going in favour of Varadhi, a botched-up heist lands him in serious trouble. Why Varadhi, a hard-working youth, plans the heist? Does he succeed in fulfilling his ambition and winning his love interest? These are the main points of the story.

A message-oriented movie

We have seen many movies where the protagonist takes an immoral route to come out of problems and fulfil his ambition.

But, instead of glorifying the heist or justifying the misdeed of the protagonist, Alipiriki Allantha Dooramlo sends a message that wealth earned through illegal means will never stay.

Debut director Anand J, who also wrote the story and dialogues, did a good job.

Raavan Reddy and Lahari Gudivada impress

The flick features many budding actors. Raavan Reddy as the lead actor did a decent job.

Lahari Gudivada, who plays the hero’s mother, delivers some good scenes and dialogues. The scenes between mother and son are quite engaging and highlight the struggles of lower and middle-class families.

Sri Nikita, Alankrita Shah, and Ravinder Bommakanti are adequate in their respective roles.

Better treatment needed

Director Anand J chose a good story but faltered in treatment and presentation. A compact screenplay would have made this movie more interesting. A runtime of 135 minutes is long and could have been cut short.

The muusic by Phani Kalyan is fine. The “Maa Tirupati” song realistically depicts Tirupati and is good. It will live on in people’s memory.

Verdict

The characters speak in the local dialect and the movie features Tirupati realistically. People from Tirupati and its surrounding areas will easily relate to it.

Alipiriki Allantha Dooramlo is a message-oriented flick from an all new-team.
