Aha Na Pellanta, a web series starring Raj Tarun and Shivani Rajasekhar, is streaming on Zee5 from Thursday, 17 November. Directed by ABCD-fame Sanjeev Reddy, it is a romantic comedy.

The plot revolves around Srinivas alias Srinu (Raj Tarun), who hails from Rajahmundry.

Much to the delight of his parents, Srinu stays away from girls right from his childhood, and finally gets ready to marry a girl of their choice.

However, his bride elopes with her love interest a few hours before the wedding.

A distraught Srinu leaves for Hyderabad. There he learns that Maha (Shivani Rajasekhar) is the reason his bride eloped. He joins hands with Mahendra (Posani) to kidnap Maha and seek revenge.

Will he succeed in it? What kind of twists and turns will Srinu witness? this forms the crux of the story.

The performances

Raj Tarun, as usual, rocks the web series with his impressive performance and good comic timing. He is effortless and pretty convincing in emotional scenes.

Shivani Rajasekhar gets another meaty role to play in the series.

Hers is a different character and she stands out by delivering an impressive performance. All her scenes with Raj Tarun are executed well.

Harsha Vardhan and Aamani as Raj Tarun’s parents are good. Posani Krishna Murali, Thagubothu Ramesh and Getup Srinu evoked good laughs.

The remaining artists are decent enough in their respective roles.

Technical aspects

Coming to technical aspects, the story is good. But the credit goes to the director for narrating a predictable plot engagingly and entertainingly.

The music by Judah Sandhy is decent. The cinematography by Akshar Ali and Nagesh Banell steals the show.

Editing could have been better in a few episodes, mainly episodes two-four. Production values are rich and the dialogues by Kalyan Raghav Pasapula are decent.

Though the plot in Aha Na Pellanta is simple, the director made sure to bring freshness into the script. He succeeded in his efforts and engaged the audience for almost six episodes.

The major plus point is that he did not give space for vulgarity but still evoked good laughs.

However, in episodes two-four, Sanjeev Reddy tries too hard to elicit humour from a situation beyond its scope. As a result, it looks a bit routine and silly.

But the actual story begins in the sixth episode and takes a good emotional turn. Episodes seven and eight will also impress us.

Srinu visiting Maha’s house to solve her family’s problem and Maha falling in love with him are shown really well.

The climax is also dealt with well. A few more strong scenes in episodes two-five and six-eight would have done wonders.

Verdict

On the whole, Aha Na Pellanta is a simple romantic comedy with comedy and emotions as its main assets.

Barring the predictability in a few episodes, the director made sure that the audience gets entertained through his breezy narration, thereby making this web series a decent watch this weekend.
