Actor Pooja Gandhi of Mungaru Male (2006) fame is all set to tie the knot with businessman Vijay Ghorpade on Wednesday, 29 November.
As shared by the actor, Pooja Gandhi’s wedding ceremony will be a low-key affair based on the distinct model of marriage called “Mantra Mangalya“.
Such a model of marriage was proposed by Rashtrakavi and Jnanpith Award recipient Kuvempu.
The concept of “Mantra Mangalya” is an extension of prominent Kannada writer Kuvempu’s “Vishwamanava” (Universal being) message.

“Mantra Mangalya” disallows dowry or any such practices and most importantly recognises marriage across all religions and castes.
It is a low-key affair with limited guests and relatives and no fanfare of any kind.
Also, “Mantra Mangalya” wedding usually has no space for horoscopes, priests, and other such rituals.
Few members of the family, friends, and well-wishers officiate such a wedding ceremony.
In her handwritten wedding invitation (in Kannada), Pooja Gandhi requested the media not to bring cameras to the ceremony.
After a stint in Hindi television and a couple of feature films in Hindi, actor Pooja Gandhi debuted in Kannada with the film Mungaru Male (2006). It went on to become a milestone in the Kannada film industry.
Thereafter, she acted in several successful films and also featured in a few Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films.
Pooja Gandhi even produced a film titled Abhinetri in 2015, which was based on the life of one of the most celebrated actors in Sandalwood — Minugu Taare Kalpana.
Later, she joined politics with little success. She was engaged to Anand Gowda for a brief period before calling it off for reasons best known to the two.
We wish the “Male” girl (Rain Girl) as she is popularly known in Sandalwood, the very best on the occasion of her marriage.
