CII delegation explores investment opportunities for Taiwanese firms in Tamil Nadu

A delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) recently embarked on a mission to strengthen economic ties between India and Taiwan.

A 15-member delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) recently set out to enhance economic connections between India and Taiwan.

Under the leadership of CII Tamil Nadu Textile Panel Convenor GR Gopi Kumar, the delegation explored opportunities for collaboration across a range of industrial sectors.

Strengthening trade

The focus was to foster mutual understanding in man-made fabrics, sustainable textiles, and technical textiles while extending an invitation to Taiwanese firms to invest in the state.

“There is a shared economic and commercial interests between India and Taiwan in several sectors especially in technical textiles. Our delegation will help businesses leverage the strengths on either side to collaborate and complement in strengthening trade,” said Kumar.

The delegation aimed to boost trade prospects between Taiwan and Tamil Nadu. The focus will be on functional fabrics, innovative initiatives, sustainability, and promising sectors.

Key destination

“India in general, Tamil Nadu in particular, can be a key destination for Taiwanese firms. This will strengthen their presence in global supply chains in textile products,” added Kumar.

During their Taiwan visit, the delegation attended the 27th Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show.

They also had discussions with key stakeholders, including the Director General of the Chinese National Association of Industry and Commerce, the India Taipei Association, and the Taiwan Textile Research Association.
