IPS officer MN Anucheth, who was recently transferred as joint commissioner of police (traffic) to manage Bengaluru’s road woes, vows to do his best in the challenging role, but there could just be something that he misses from his previous stint at the CID: His state-of-the-art, plush and very huge office — the office of the Superintendent of Police (SP) CID.

Of course, the traffic police headquarters, a relatively new building, also has swanky offices, but they are not a patch on the annex building of CID HQ at Carlton House on Palace Road where Anucheth previously sat.

The annex building was built in collaboration with the Infosys foundation and Anucheth’s office was a royal affair. Snow white walls adorned with paintings and iconic photographs of momentous occasions in the history of Karnataka police dating back decades, bronze and copper artefacts, and a wooden decor adding a luxurious touch to the spacious office with big windows.

So luxurious was Anucheth’s office that Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, when he visited the annex building recently, apparently quipped that Anucheth’s office was better than his own!

Though it looks like a premature transfer, as Anucheth was made SP CID recently on May 16, 2022 (precisely, a day less than six months ago), he has lost his plush office space and will now be sitting in a not-so-plush office at the Traffic Management System Building on Infantry Road. Before becoming SP CID, Anucheth was serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Division in Bengaluru city.
