The Telangana High Court on Tuesday, 25 April, posted the hearing on the anticipatory bail petition filed by YSRCP MP YS Avinash Reddy in the case related to the murder of his uncle and former MP YS Vivekananda Reddy, to Wednesday.

Responding to the petition filed by Avinash Reddy, the court, in its interim order given on 18 April, directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) not to arrest him till 25 April and asked him to appear for questioning as and when the CBI called him till 25 April.

Hearing moved to 26 April

The court also asked the CBI to prepare a questionnaire to grill Avinash Reddy and directed the probe agency to ensure audio and video recording of the entire proceedings and the same should be submitted to the court.

It had then said, on the basis of a report by the CBI after questioning the petitioner, that final orders will be passed on 25 April.

When the anticipatory bail plea came up today in the high court, the petitioner’s counsel sought a hearing on the matter, but the judge said that he would go through the Supreme Court’s order first.

He then posted the hearing on the final verdict of the anticipatory bail petition to Wednesday.

High court order ‘unwarranted’: SC

On Monday, the Supreme Court set aside the high court order, directing the CBI that is probing the murder of Vivekananda Reddy to provide a written questionnaire in advance to Avinash Reddy, whose name figured in the case, and his father YS Bhaskar Reddy and their aide Uday Kumar Reddy, who was arrested a few days ago in the same case.

Terming the high court order “unwarranted”, the Supreme Court quashed the direction the high court had issued to the CBI.

It, however, said the high court can proceed with the hearing of the anticipatory bail plea of Avinash Reddy on merits.

The Supreme Court gave these directions to the high court while hearing a plea filed by N Sunitha Reddy, daughter of YS Vivekananda Reddy, challenging the high court order.
