TDP MP K Rammohan Naidu has lodged a complaint with Union Home Minister Amit Shah against senior IPS officer and Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) chief N Sanjay for violating service rules and allegedly working to the tune of the ruling YSRCP in the state.
In a letter addressed to Shah, he requested him to take necessary action against Sanjay and enclosed relevant documents for his perusal.
He claimed that the CID headed by Sanjay arrested the former chief minister and TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu without conducting a proper investigation into the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) scam.
As an IPS officer, Sanjay should work without any bias, but he has violated all service rules, Rammohan Naidu said and claimed that to gain appreciation from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, he was indulging in mudslinging against the Opposition parties.
Sanjay was holding press conferences across the country, inviolation of service rules, he said. And, as a probe agency, the CID was not supposed to disclose details of an ongoing investigation, but it was intentionally doing so to tarnish the image of Chandrababu Naidu, the MP said in his complaint.
Meanwhile, the ‘Yuva Galam’ (Voice of Youth) padayatra undertaken by TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh was postponed for the second time in view of the arguments on the petition filed in connection with the APSSDC scam in the Supreme Court on 3 October.
He made an appeal in this regard to the TDP cadre.
Lokesh stopped his yatra at Rajolu Assembly constituency in East Godavari district on 9 September, the day his father was arrested in an early morning swoop at Nandyal.
A decision was taken to resume the yatra on 29 September at 8.15 pm after a break of 20 days. However, Lokesh requested the cadre to postpone the date for resuming the yatra keeping in view the arguments in the court.
After discussing the matter with senior leaders, Lokesh is expected to declare a new date for restarting the yatra.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on 27 September, said it would take up Chandrababu Naidu’s plea for the quashing of the FIR against him in the multi-crore skill development scam on 3 October.
The decision came after Justice SVN Bhatti — sitting with Justice Sanjiv Khanna in the bench before which the matter was listed — recused from hearing the matter.
In view of the Supreme Court hearing, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Court in Vijayawada deferred on the same day the hearing of Naidu’s bail petition in the case and the Crime Investigation Department (CID) petition seeking his custody to 4 October.
The ACB Court also posted the matter related to PT warrants in Amaravati inner ring road and fibrenet cases to 4 October.
Meanwhile, arguments were completed in the petition related to anticipatory bail filed by Naidu in the Andhra Pradesh High Court in the Inner Ring Road case. The CID declared Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh as accused number 14 (A14) in the case. After the inclusion of his name in the case, Lokesh filed an anticipatory bail petition in the court.
The CID is probing the irregularities committed to make changes to the alignment of Amaravati Capital Inner Ring road.
