Synopsis: Even as the SIT suspected that former Krishnalanka Circle Inspector, Nagaraju, resorted to custodial torture and murdered Sai Krishna (25), and collected some evidences in the case, the latter alleged that the SIT was trying to implicate him falsely.

In a major development in the alleged custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna in Krishnalanka police station, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials said they noticed and seized some suspicious material including a few bones, a blood stained lathi, burnt ash and a partially burnt wrist chain, reportedly from the terrace of the police station building. The statement was made in a representation to the Second Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate Court seeking police custody of suspended Krishnalanka Circle Inspector (CI) S.S.V.V. Nagaraju.

The mortal remains and other seized material have been sent to AP Forensic Science Laboratory (APFSL) for examination, the SIT officers said.

CI blames SIT

Even as the SIT alleged that former Krishnalanka Circle Inspector, Nagaraju, resorted to custodial torture and murdered Sai Krishna (25), and collected some evidences in the case, the latter claimed that he was being falsely implicated.

In a written representation submitted in the court, Nagaraju said he was innocent, and the SIT was trying to terrorise and was making attempts to coerce a confession from him.

Nagaraju said, “I told them everything regarding the custodial death case, but SIT was seeking my custody just to frame me in the case.”

Meanwhile, the SIT officials filed a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court challenging the conditional police custody of Nagaraju, who is Accused No.1 in the case. The matter has been postponed.

On Friday, 3 July, the Second Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate Court gave eight days police custody to the suspended CI.

The court directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT), to question the accused CI from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Rajamendravaram Central Prison, in which he was in judicial custody.

‘Failed to disclose true facts’

According to the files accessed by South First, the SIT noted that the complainant and her relatives repeatedly approached Krishnalanka Police Station and made enquiries regarding the whereabouts of the deceased.

However, it is alleged that the accused failed to disclose the true facts concerning the custody of the deceased and, instead, threatened and abused the complainant and her relatives.

The SIT further noted that the investigation has revealed that the accused deliberately suppressed the material fact that the deceased had already been apprehended at Markapur and brought to Krishnalanka Police Station. “Such deliberate suppression of the apprehension and continued custody of the deceased clearly indicates intentional concealment of material facts with a view to screening the offender and obstructing the due course of justice.”

“The investigation has also revealed that the CCTV footage covering the period from 01.05.2026 to 01.06.2026 is not available in the DVR/NVR system. Further, the report of the AP Forensic Science Laboratory prima facie indicates the disappearance and/or destruction of electronic evidence during the period material to the commission of the offence,” they added.
