The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Andhra Pradesh Police, probing the alleged custodial torture and murder of 25-year-old Gade Sai Krishna, has arrested two more police personnel in connection with the case.

Krishnalanka police station Constable K Babu Rao and Head Constable G Sambaiah, named as Accused Nos. 5 and 6, were produced before a court on Wednesday, 1 July, and remanded to judicial custody.

The two accused allegedly assisted suspended Krishnalanka Circle Inspector SSVV Nagaraju in screening evidence related to the case.

The arrests come a week after Nagaraju himself was arrested and days after two head constables, Jangam Nani and Ashok, surrendered before the SIT in Vijayawada.

The Andhra Pradesh government constituted the SIT on 21 June to investigate disappearance and the alleged custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna, whose death has triggered widespread public concern and intensified scrutiny of police conduct.
