Bandar port

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced 26 May as the date for the distribution of house sites, measuring 1.1 cents, in Amaravati capital region to 50,000 beneficiaries.

“I want to do something good for the poor and the homeless. That is why I have decided to distribute house sites to them. The government will construct houses for all of them,” he said, breaking the news to the beneficiaries of the Guntur and Vijayawada districts.

The chief minister announced while speaking at a public meeting at Machilipatnam after laying the foundation stone for the much-awaited Bandar Port to be constructed for ₹5,156 crores.

Takes a dig at Naidu

He utilised the occasion for bludgeoning TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu for creating impediments in the distribution of house sites to the poor.

“Chandrababu Naidu’s efforts to derail our programme reminds me of how demons used to disrupt the yagas being performed by sages for the public good,” he said.

In a stinging attack on the Nadiu, he wondered how he could call himself a human being for saying that the house sites would not be of any use except for use as tombs.

“Naidu did all that was in his power to disrupt the programme by inciting people to file cases against the government,” he said.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said that dislike for the poor, SCs and even BCs was in Naidu’s blood. In the past, he went on record saying that no one would want to be born in scheduled castes and that the BCs should be cut down to size.

He humiliated women by often referring to the saying that a woman would not say no if her daughter-in-law asks whether she should give birth to a baby boy.

‘Naidu has hatred for the poor’

He said Naidu always wore a hatred for the poor on his sleeve.

He visualised an Amaravati where the rich would lead a luxurious life while the poor toil as labourers and as housemaids in their houses.

“Naidu never wanted them to have houses in Amaravati. He had even argued that if the poor have houses in Amravati, it would lead to social imbalance and even took the argument into the court halls too,” Jagan Mohan Reddy said.

He said that the TDP chief was being aided and abetted by a band of “dacoits.”

“This band has no other work except to plunder the state and salt away the loot. Naidu has two newspapers, one new channel, and an adopted son (read Pawan Kalyan) who stands by him all the time. Naidu is a reincarnation of untouchability and neo-feudalism,” he said.

Referring to Bandar Port, he said that sea trade with India through Bandar Port had a history spanning hundreds of years.

“In fact, Machilipatnam has a glorious future and could grow into a great city like Chennai,” he said.

“We have surmounted all legal problems. We have completed the land acquisition and attained financial closure. The port will have four berths in the beginning with a capacity to handle 35 million tonnes of cargo,” he added.
