Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday, 2 June, kicked off the second phase of the YSR Yantra Seva Scheme in the Guntur district.

Under this scheme, communities of farmers would own tractors and other agriculture machinery, utilising the subsidy from the government and bank loans — given to them at a lower rent.

The chief minister flagged off the tractors, harvesters, and other agriculture machinery valued at ₹361.29 crore at 4,019 yantra seva kendras.

The farmers’ groups, which are attached to the Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBK), received 2,562 tractors, 100 harvesters, and 13,573 farm machines.

About the scheme

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that the government would furnish 40 percent of the cost of the agricultural machinery, while 50 percent would be in the form of a bank loan.

The farmers’ groups would have to come up with the remaining 10 percent.

The chief minister, with the press of a button, credited ₹125.48 crore to the farmers’ accounts.

Agricultural machinery, including tractors and harvesters, would be made available at 10,444 RBKs.

The cluster-level community hiring centres would supervise their operations.

Jagan said that as many as 3,800 tractors, 391 harvesters, and 22,580 farm machines worth ₹690.87 crore were handed over to the farmers’ groups under 6,525 RBKs in the first phase, with a subsidy of ₹ 240.67 crore.

The chief minister said that the initiative was to help farmers stand on their own feet. “This is the way to usher in ‘grama swarajyam’,” he said.

“We have allocated ₹15 lakh for each RBK centre,” he said, pointing out that the government would inquire with farmers what they want and help them meet their needs.
