‘Belittled our struggle’: KTR on AP BJP chief gifting a United Andhra Pradesh map

Andhra BJP chief gifts united state map to Nara Lokesh

Synopsis: BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao demanded an apology from BJP leadership after Andhra BJP chief PVN Madhav gifted a map showing a united Andhra Pradesh, excluding Telangana, to Minister Nara Lokesh. Calling it an insult to Telangana’s identity and struggle, BRS leaders urged the DGP to take suo motu action under multiple IPC sections for promoting enmity and public mischief.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanded an apology from the BJP leadership over Andhra Pradesh BJP chief PVN Madhav gifting India map which showed united Andhra Pradesh, excluding Telangana state to Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh.

Claiming that the presentation of such a map is blatant disregard for the Telangana statehood movement, he wrote on X: “We have fought for generations for our cultural identity, our rightful place in history, and our geographical position – TELANGANA.

He added, “Today, your Andhra Pradesh state BJP chief; Madhav Garu, has belittled our struggle by gifting a United Andhra Pradesh map and ignoring the existence of Telangana This is absolutely unacceptable and reflects the blatant disregard to the people of Telangana…to our state, and to our struggle, sacrifices of martyrs and history. What are we if our history is erased?!”

Further demanding the BJP to clarify if this reflects the party’s plan or political agenda, KTR said, “If it’s a genuine oversight, I demand an apology from your party leadership to the people of Telangana.”

‘Take suo moto cognizance’

BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan also condemned the incident and noted that “Deliberately omitting Telangana, is a dangerous and deeply offensive act that strikes at the very heart of our identity.”

Claiming that the act is “a political conspiracy to delegitimize Telangana’s rightful existence and identity,” the BRS leader appealed to the Telangana DGP to take suo motu cognizance and register a case under the following sections: Section 336, which pertains to the forgery of public documents; Section 337, involving forgery committed with the intent to deceive; and Section 196, which deals with promoting enmity between different regions, and Section 352 addresses acts of criminal intimidation specifically targeting the political and cultural identity of Telangana, while Section 353 concerns the spread of public mischief likely to disturb peace and incite unrest.

The newly appointed state BJP chief PVN Madhav on Wednesday, 9 July, met Nara Lokesh and presented the said map.

Sharing the same, he wrote: “I had the honor of courteously meeting the esteemed State Minister Sri Nara Lokesh.”

Meanwhile, Nara Lokesh wrote: “The newly elected state BJP president, P.V.N. Madhav garu, met courteously at the Undavalli residence. On this occasion, I honored Madhav garu with a Mangalagiri shawl.”

He added, “We recalled the moments when we fought together in the Legislative Council on public issues while in the opposition. Madhav garu, known for his gentle nature, has a complete understanding of the state’s issues. I expressed that we should work together for the comprehensive development of the state.”
