Synopsis: Andhra Pradesh government has allotted 20 acres in Visakhapatnam to Infosys for a ₹750 crore IT/ITeS campus under its LIFT and IT & GCC policies. Expected to create 7,000 jobs, the project will be developed in phases by 2029. Infrastructure worth ₹79 crore has been sanctioned, positioning Visakhapatnam as a major IT hub post-bifurcation.

In a major push to strengthen technology ecosystem, the Andhra Pradesh government has approved the allotment of 20 acres of land to Infosys Limited for setting up a state-of-the-art IT/ITeS campus in Visakhapatnam.

The project, with a proposed investment of Rs 750 crore, is expected to generate around 7,000 jobs, marking one of the most significant IT investments in the state in recent years.

The decision was formalised through G.O. Ms. No. 24 issued by the Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (ITE&C) Department on 27 April, 2026. The land parcel, identified at Yendada village on Yendada Hill in Visakhapatnam Rural Mandal, will be  allotted under the Andhra Pradesh Land Incentive for Tech Hubs (LIFT) Policy 4.0 (2024–29) at a nominal price of ₹0.99 for the entire extent.

The move comes as part of Andhra Pradesh’s policy to position Visakhapatnam as a premier IT destination following the bifurcation of the erstwhile state in 2014. With Hyderabad remaining in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh has been actively working to build alternative economic centres to attract investments and generate employment.

20 Acres Allotted Under LIFT Policy 4.0

The allotment of land has been made under two key policies: the Andhra Pradesh IT & Global Capability Centres (GCC) Policy 4.0 (2024–29) and the LIFT Policy 4.0. These policies are designed to attract global IT firms, including Fortune 500 companies, by offering infrastructure support, financial incentives, and subsidised land.

Under the IT & GCC Policy, companies generating more than 2,000 jobs are eligible for customised incentive packages. The LIFT Policy, on the other hand, focuses on providing land at concessional rates to accelerate the development of technology hubs.

Infosys submitted its propsal to the government in February 2026. The Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) first evaluated the proposal and forwarded it to the Consultative Committee on Information Technology and Electronics Industry (CCITEI).

Subsequently, the State Investment Promotion Committee (SIPC) reviewed and cleared the proposal, recommending it to the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB). The SIPB, in its meeting held on April 7, 2026, approved the project with a set of conditions and implementation guidelines.

The proposed campus is expected to be developed in phases over a six-year period, with Phase 1 scheduled for completion by January 2029. The government has also indicated flexibility by allowing an additional year for Phase 1 and up to two extra years for overall project completion, depending on progress.

The company has committed to creating 7,000 jobs on the 20-acre site, exceeding the policy requirement of 500 jobs per acre. The government has also encouraged Infosys to develop a 10,000-seat campus, although this has not been made a mandatory condition.

The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has been tasked with developing essential infrastructure, including:

  1. Two major access roads with widths ranging from 20 to 36 metres Stormwater drainage systems
  2. Reliable power and water supply up to the project site

Rs 79 crore allotted for infra

The government has sanctioned Rs 79 crore for infrastructure development in the Yendada Hill IT layout. This apart, the Energy Department has been directed to facilitate 100 percent green power supply to ensure the campus operates as an environmentally sustainable facility.

As part of the arrangement, the Revenue Department will alienate five acres of land at Survey No. 175/P to APIIC for transfer to Infosys. Additional land will also be allocated for developing supporting infrastructure such as roads and utilities. Authorities have also been instructed to explore providing direct connectivity to the campus from the nearest metro station, subject to feasibility under the proposed metro rail plan.

The project timeline will be linked to key approvals, including building plan clearance, environmental clearances, and readiness of infrastructure such as roads, power, and water supply.

Infosys is required to submit all necessary applications within 120 days from the date of the sale agreement. The government has also assured support in facilitating permissions for activities such as rock cutting and blasting, which may be required for site development at Yendada Hill.

The project is expected to provide a significant boost to employment in the region, particularly for the youth. With a projected workforce of 7,000 employees, the campus will contribute to the growth of ancillary industries and services, further strengthening the local economy.

The state government sees this project as a key step in transforming Visakhapatnam into a major economic and technological hub. By leveraging policy incentives and infrastructure development, Andhra Pradesh aims to create a robust ecosystem for IT and global capability centres.

The Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh Technology Services (APTS) and the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of APIIC have been directed to take necessary steps for implementation. Various departments, including Revenue, Energy, Finance, and Municipal Administration, have also been instructed to coordinate and facilitate the project.
