Synopsis: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday launched a project to build three lakh houses for poor under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin 2.0 (PMAY-G 2.0) scheme using 3D concrete printing technology. A pilot project covering 117 houses in Guntur district will cost ₹14 crore, with each 350 sq. ft. house expected to be built in 10 days at a cost of ₹2.5 lakh. Naidu said the government aims to provide houses to all homeless poor families by 2029.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday, 4 October laid the foundation stone for a project to construct three lakh houses for poor families under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin 2.0 (PMAY-G 2.0) scheme using 3D concrete printing technology at Burripalem in Guntur district.
As part of the pilot project, 117 houses are to be constructed at Burripalem and Obulanaidupalem in Tenali mandal at a cost of ₹14 crore. According to officials from the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), a house can be constructed in 10 days using the technology. The pilot project is to be completed in six months.
At the Burripalem ST Colony, Naidu and Chouhan inaugurated construction of a 3D-printed concrete house along with a beneficiary family. New clothes were also presented to the family.
Naidu said the State had been sanctioned 75,000 houses under the regular housing quota, but the Centre had sanctioned three lakh houses following a special request from the State government.
He said that the Centre had agreed to sanction another three lakh houses after completion of the current allocation, followed by an additional three lakh houses next year.
The Chief Minister said the NDA government was using the mandate given by the people to deliver welfare and development across the State.
He said the government’s “Pattabhishekam for the poor” initiative had resolved long-pending land issues and enabled house sites to be distributed to poor families.
Land parcels valued at ₹52,000 crore in different parts of the State, including Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Mangalagiri, had been vested with the poor, he said.
“The alliance government’s agenda is to stand by every section and every region,” Naidu said.
He said Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had sanctioned three lakh houses for Andhra Pradesh and assured that the State would receive a total of nine lakh houses. The government’s goal was to provide houses to 100 percent of homeless poor families before 2029, he said.
In Andhra Pradesh, rural development works worth ₹11,500 crore had been taken up under the “Palle Panduga” programme, he said. Another ₹1.30 lakh crore would be spent on development works in rural areas over the next five years, he added.
Chouhan said the Union government would provide full support for Andhra Pradesh’s development.
On support for farmers, Chouhan said the Centre was providing ₹6,000 a year to each eligible farmer under PM-KISAN, while the Andhra Pradesh government was providing another ₹14,000 under Annadata Sukhibhava, taking the total annual assistance to ₹20,000.
Chouhan said Modi and Naidu were jointly steering Andhra Pradesh towards 360-degree development. He criticised the Congress for bifurcating the State without providing it with a capital and leaving Andhra Pradesh in a difficult situation.
‘Andhra Pradesh would be made free of land disputes by next March’: Naidu
Naidu said Burripalem had been selected for the pilot project to test 3D concrete printing technology. Houses built using the technology have indoor temperatures at least eight degrees Celsius lower than the outdoor temperature, he said.
He alleged that six lakh houses for the poor were cancelled between 2019 and 2024 and that there were corruption and irregularities in housing construction during the period.
Naidu said the previous administration had allotted house sites in ponds and on hillocks that were unfit for habitation and subsequently withdrew from the issue. Around four lakh beneficiaries had rejected and returned such plots, he said.
The present initiative was aimed at providing permanent houses to poor families, Naidu said. He also said Andhra Pradesh would be made free of land disputes by next March.
Each house under the 3D-printing project will have a plinth area of 350 sq. ft. and will cost ₹2.5 lakh.
