TDS and TPC violations

The famous Air Live restaurant was also inspected. The team seized water bottles worth ₹68,400 on suspicion of them being substandard.

When the team conducted a preliminary test on the water using a portable TDS meter, the TDS was found to be 12 mg/L—which is considered very low, compared to the mandated minimum of 75 mg/L.

TDS (Total dissolved solids) is the measure of anything dissolved in water that is not an H2O (water) molecule.

Low TDS means the water doesn’t have the essential minerals important for human health.

However, action will be taken after the lab reports are obtained.

The global food chain Taco Bell was found to be violating rules by not maintaining a record of the re-use of oil.

The team noted that the re-used oil may have exceeded acceptable levels of TPC, when there is high demand, especially on weekends.

TPC (Total Polar Compounds) serve as a key indicator to assess the degradation and overall quality of edible oils.

According to the FSSAI norms, oil should not have more than 25 percent of TPC. Anything greater than that is considered not fit for human consumption.

A show cause notice has been issued to Taco Bell.

Another food outlet— Boiler Room Club has been found violating food storage rules. According to the team, notices will be issued for the same.
