Zika virus: First case reported in Karnataka’s Raichur

Karnataka reported its first case of the Zika virus with a 5-year-old girl testing positive in Raichur, on Tuesday, 13 December.

The girl, who showed symptoms of dengue, was hospitalised and her test results were negative.

Samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune where results turned out positive.

Health Minister K Sudhakar said teams are keeping a strict vigil for any suspected infections in the region.
