Coimbatore remained tense on Thursday, 22 September after two petrol bombs attacks were reported in the city. It is learnt that unknown miscreants hurled petrol bombs at a textile shop and the BJP district headquarters in Coimbatore.

Fortunately, in both instances, the petrol bombs failed to catch fire. The attacks came hours after the NIA raided and arrested PFI and SDPI leaders. In the case of the BJP office, CCTV visuals showed a petrol bomb being thrown by an unidentified man from the opposite side of the road.

The man sped away using a bike from the spot after hurling the petrol bomb. In the textile shop case, two men who came on a bike threw the petrol bomb. The Coimbatore police are examining the CCTV footages and have inquired a few persons regarding the case.

However, no arrests have been made as yet. Meanwhile, BJP members staged a road block last night over the incident demanding the arrest of the miscreants.

State BJP chief K Annamalai slammed the DMK claiming that law and order has deteriorated in the state. “The incident will not deter BJP and will only strengthen our resolve,” he said.
