Mudhol hound breeders are upbeat over the state government allocation in the budget for its development.
Breeders in Bagalkot and other areas have also appealed to the government for further assistance to promote the breed.
The Mudhol hound, primarily hunting and guard dogs, are native to Karnataka.
It has also been recognised as a native Indian breed by the Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources.
The Mudhol hounds have been inducted into canine squads of the Indian Army, BSF and several state police forces.
