Efforts are on to reunite four tiger cubs with their mother after they were found abandoned near a village in Atmakur forest in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal district on 7 March.
Efforts to track the tigress have, so far, been to no avail. An expert committee including National Tiger Conservation Authority officers has been set up to monitor and decide on the next course of action for the cubs.
On 7 March, villagers spotted the four female cubs and informed Forest Department officials.
Teams have been trying to track down the tigress from her pugmarks.
The cubs are currently under medical and expert supervision.
They are likely to be shifted to Tirupati zoo if they cannot be reunited with their mother.
