Toxic smoke continued to envelope several parts of Kochi from Thursday, 2 March, following the massive blaze at the Brahmapuram solid waste plant.

Besides the haze, residents complained of an irritating smell prompting authorities to issue an advisory asking people to stay indoors on Sunday.

Fire force personnel battled the blaze and brought it under control late Saturday.

Smoke continued to billow from the simmering debris.

The district administration said it was fully prepared for any health emergency emerging from the current situation.
