Paruthiyoor in Pozhiyoor, some 32 km south of Thiruvananthapuram city is a coastal ward that is currently facing a daunting challenge after a powerful swell surge called Kallakkadal by the natives battered its coastline on Easter Sunday.
Part of Kulathoor Grama Panchayat, three other wards — Pozhiyoor, Mullassery, and Pozhikkara Beach — were also affected by the swell surge. The Panchayat estimates a total loss of ₹50 lakh.
