Karnataka govt mulls law to punish erring medical workers

Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar said that the government is mulling a law to fix accountability and punish erring medical staff.

Karnataka Health minister addressed the public, a day after the tragic incident in Tumakuru where a woman and her newborn babies died because of medical apathy.

Health Minister K Sudhakar on Saturday, 5 November, said that the government is mulling a law to fix accountability and punish erring medical staff.

The victim was turned away by a hospital reportedly because she did not have a ‘taayi’ card and Aadhaar.

The woman returned home and went into labour at night.

She and her newborn babies died due to complications during delivery.
