If you sell people a mythic past where they were once glorious, you can take away their future, says writer-activist Arundhati Roy.
The Human Rights Forum (HRF) organised the 13th memorial meeting in honour of human rights activist K Balagopal on Sunday, 9 October.
Speakers included noted writer Arundhati Roy, senior advocate Mihir Desai, lawyer Clifton D’ Rozario, and HRF member and sociologist Kalpana Kannabiran.
The event was marked with the launch of a book written by Balagopal, Court Theerpulu Samajika Nyayam.
On the current dispensation at the Centre, Roy said that if you sell the people a mythic past when they were once glorious, you can take away their future.
“The country is facing a fascist force and a single entity can’t fight them,” Clifton said. He called for unity, not just during elections.
