Senior BJP leader and former Karnataka chief minister Jagadish Shettar joined the Congress on 17 April ahead of the 10 May Assembly elections in the state.

He will contest elections from Hubballi-Dharwad Central constituency.

He was denied a ticket by the ruling BJP to contest the Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections.
