Bidar boy unfurls Karnataka flag at graduation in London, social media debates regional identities

A video of a youth from Bidar who waved a Karnataka flag during his graduation ceremony in London triggered a debate over regional identities on social media platforms.

Adhish R Wali posted a 25-second video of him at a graduation ceremony at the City University of London – Bayes Business School.

While Kannadiga politicians and activists hailed Adhish for unfurling the state colours on stage, many questioned the choice of the flag to represent someone who is from India.

“Outside our country, we are Indians, not Kannadigas or Bengalis,” said one Twitter user.
