Synopsis: Investigators say the woman had been in a relationship with 21-year-old Ahmed, who is now the prime suspect in her death. Rehana had been living at the accused’s home for the past few months, and they had been in a relationship for a year.

The body of a 21-year-old woman was discovered stuffed inside a gunny bag in Hyderabad’s Balapur area on Monday, 17 August, in a case believed to have stemmed from a dispute over marriage.

Police were alerted around 5 AM after receiving an emergency call reporting a body concealed in a bag in Bismillah Colony, under Balapur station limits. Officers who arrived at the scene identified the victim as Rehana, a native of Bihar.

Investigators say the woman had been in a relationship with 21-year-old Ahmed, who is now the prime suspect in her death. Rehana had been living at the accused’s home for the past few months, and they had been in a relationship for a year.

Reports suggest that the couple had been at odds over the woman’s demand that he marry her. A conversation about it turned into a heated argument on Sunday, 16 August night, according to Ahmed’s family members.

Officials said Ahmed allegedly stabbed the woman before placing her body inside the gunny bag and fleeing the scene. He has not yet been located, and a search operation is currently underway to trace him.

A case has been registered against the accused, and the victim’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. The investigation is ongoing as they work to establish the full sequence of events leading up to the murder.
