The Telangana School Education Department has issued a notification to fill over 11,062 posts under DSC (Departmental Selection Committee) 2024 on Thursday, 29 February.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy along with education department officials have released the DSC 2024 notification poster to fill up the long pending vacancies in Telangana.
The DSC 2024 notification is for the recruitment of school assistants, secondary grade teachers, language pandits, physical education teachers, and special education teachers in the primary level in the category of secondary grade teachers.
The notification is also for the recruitment of special education teachers in upper primary/secondary level in the category of school assistant under government and local body schools in the state.
The online applications will be made available from 4 March to 2 April, on the official website.
The date of the examination is not announced yet.
The fee for applying and taking the written test is ₹ 1,000 for each teaching post. If a candidate wants to apply for multiple posts, they need to pay ₹ 1,000 separately for each post and submit separate applications for each post they are applying for.
Referring to the candidates who have applied in response to the 6 September, 2023 notification, the school department clarified that they need not apply once again for the fresh notification.
“Their applications will be automatically carried forward in the fresh notification,” the department stated.
The written test, for the first time, will be a Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT) conducted online. This test will take place in various locations, including Mahabubnagar, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Medak, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda, and Sangareddy.
The then government (BRS), in a GO (Government Order) dated 25 August, 2023, approved the filling of 5089 teaching positions across different categories like school assistants, secondary grade teachers, language pandits, and physical education teachers, in government and local body schools.
Subsequently, the Commissioner of School Education issued a notification on 6 September, 2023 and a fresh one on 29 February 2024, to fill 4957 direct recruitment teacher posts in government and local body schools.
This includes 796 special education teachers for the primary level and 220 for the upper primary/secondary level, making a total of 11062 direct recruitment posts for DSC-2024.
Speaking with South First, Telangana State United Teachers’ Federation (TSUTF) general secretary K Jangaiah Chava Ravi says, “There are over 22, 000 vacancies in the school education department including headmasters, diet lecturers and among which 9000 posts will be vacant when the teachers waiting for promotions are transferred.”
Speaking of the issues faced by students due to the lack of teachers, Jangaiah says, “The students are facing problems due to fewer teachers in the schools so we request the government to stick to the deadlines of conducting examinations in May and June and complete the recruitment by July of 2024.”
Referring to the delay in recruitment by the previous government, Jangaiah says, “The last notification for teacher recruitment was issued by the previous government in 2017, offering 8792 posts. However, due to legal issues regarding the hiring process, the previous government initiated the filling of these posts from 2019 to 2022.”
“This kind of delay in procedures was not common before 2014 in the united Andhra Pradesh. While occasional delays were seen, they were typically completed within six to seven months. The duration of the recruitment process is influenced by the ruling government and how quickly they choose to conclude it,” he added.
