Kavitha leads a round table conference with Group-1 Aspirants

Synopsis: K Kavitha, leading Telangana Jagruti, slammed the state government’s handling of the Group-1 recruitment halt, accusing it of neglecting youth and marginalized communities. Announcing statewide protests, she demanded re-examination, repeal of GO 29, and justice for Telugu medium students. With legal and political action, Kavitha vowed to fight until the unemployed secure jobs, invoking the Telangana movement’s spirit.

Kalvakuntla Kavitha took centre stage at the Somajiguda Press Club on Thursday, where she led a round table meeting that echoed the growing frustration over Telangana’s Group-1 recruitment issue.

The Telangana Jagruti president and former MP spoke with emotion and resolve as she addressed the fallout from the Telangana High Court’s decision to halt the recruitment process, citing irregularities and lapses by the Public Service Commission.

The court’s move has left thousands of hopeful candidates in limbo, their dreams once again put on hold. Kavitha said it was painful to see Telangana’s youth, who once fought for the state’s very existence, now struggling for fair opportunities. She accused the government of turning its back on unemployed students and vowed that Telangana Jagruti would not stay silent.

Announcing a weeklong statewide protest, she said the fight was not just political but “deeply personal”, a fight, she added, “for the future of Telangana’s children.”

Statewide struggle across the week

Kavitha launched a sharp critique of the state government’s handling of the recruitment controversy at the round table conference today. Expressing her displeasure and shock, she said she had not imagined “that our youth would have to suffer so much even after the advent of Telangana.”

The Telangana Jagruti leader said she was looking at the issue “from the perspective of a mother,” and accused the government of showing hostility toward students and teachers.

“This government, strangely, is filing cases against students and teachers as well,” she lamented, contrasting it with the previous BRS government’s approach.

“In the first 10 years after the advent of Telangana, KCR did everything he could for the students. Unfortunately, we could not conduct the Group-1 exam. But the previous government never got angry with the students,” she reminded

Kavitha said the government should correct its mistakes rather than suppress dissent. “These governments should not be in a way that hurts our children. If any mistake is made, it should be corrected,” she proposed.

Expressing solidarity with students demanding fair recruitment, she said Telangana Jagruti would organise protests across the state. “We will fight for a week regarding Group-1. Tomorrow we will organise a cooking program in Ashok Nagar,” she announced.

Accusing the chief minister of focusing on rhetoric rather than governance, she said, “This Chief Minister is a talker. He is insulting the Opposition without doing what he has to do. The CM and his deputy are insulting the students without talking about their problems.”

Kavitha added that the youth of Telangana were resilient but deserved respect. “We, the children of Telangana, will even resist hunger, but wepublic se will not endure humiliation.”

Invoking the spirit of the Telangana movement, she said the same spirit would guide their fight now.

“Whether it is Jagruti or Kavitha, people are not the type to rest when they face difficulties. We fought until our intestines were cut and w were tired in the Telangana movement. We will continue to work continuously for the welfare of the people of Telangana,” she said, reaffirming her support.

Jagruti’s five resolutions, pledges of legal and political action

Kavitha announced that Telangana Jagruti would adopt five resolutions, including demands for the cancellation of current Group-1 recruitments and a complete re-examination process for prelims and mains.

“We have decided to fight till the end for the Group-1 result,” she said, adding that her organisation would send the resolutions to the Governor and the Chief Minister.

Among the key issues raised were the alleged dilution of BC, SC, and ST reservations under GO 29 and the need for a “complete cleansing” of the Telangana Public Service Commission.

“We will fight completely until GO 29 is repealed,” she declared, accusing the Congress government of ignoring the welfare of marginalised communities.

“After coming to power in the state, Congress leaders completely abandoned the people of Telangana. They did injustice to SC, ST, and BCs due to GO 29,” she accused.

Highlighting linguistic injustice faced by Telugu medium students, she said, “I love Telugu very much. I want Telugu to be good. But what about the situation where you can’t get jobs if you write in Telugu?” She questioned how justice could be ensured when “judges don’t know Telugu” and called for preference to candidates writing in the language.

“Candidates who write in Telugu should definitely be given priority in Group-1. We need to discuss the loss being suffered by Telugu medium students,” she held.

Assuring legal support for the unemployed, Kavitha said Telangana Jagruti’s legal department had assembled “a team of 50 lawyers ready to fight like warriors.”

She reiterated that the organisation would stand with the unemployed until justice was delivered. “We will fight against the government until two lakh jobs are given in full,” she said.

Kavitha lamented the lack of coverage for the students’ movement, alleging that “the entire mainstream media is supporting the government in the matter of Group-1.” Drawing parallels with the Telangana movement, she said, “Similar efforts were made during the Telangana movement in the past. I request the mainstream media to also show the version of the unemployed,” she requested.

Ending her remarks on a note of resolve, she said, “I assure you that we will fight until the unemployed get jobs.”

“Even though our generation has lost, we wanted the future generation to be better. But injustice is being done to them, too. Students, focus on your studies. Work hard to get jobs. We will fight on your behalf. We will advise the government,” she reassured.
