She had travelled to Kathmandu for a pilgrimage to Manasarovar after returning to India earlier this month.
The family of Kandimalla Suhasini Reddy, a 44-year-old software engineer from Hyderabad who has been missing since the flash floods in Nepal on 26 August, has appealed to government agencies to provide information about her whereabouts and said they were ready to travel to Nepal to assist in her rescue if required.
Suhasini is among the more than a thousand people reported missing after the floods, which killed 469 people. Her family in Hyderabad last spoke to her on the evening of 25 August, a day before the calamity.
Her brother, Lohith, said Suhasini was scheduled to leave her hotel for the immigration centre on 26 August when the floods struck.
“She might have been rescued. She might have been kept somewhere. We just want complete details of where she is. We are waiting and reaching out to all the authorities. We request government agencies to please provide us information. We are ready to travel,” Lohith said.
Suhasini, who has been working as a software engineer in Australia, had returned to India earlier this month for the housewarming ceremony of a new home she had purchased with her husband, Sanjeev Reddy.
She left Hyderabad for Kathmandu on Sunday, 23 August. According to her maternal family in LB Nagar, she had travelled there for a pilgrimage to Manasarovar with a friend who had flown from Australia.
Her father, Mahender Reddy, said Suhasini first travelled to Delhi and then reached Kathmandu. She remained in regular contact with the family until Tuesday, 25 August.
“She first reached Delhi and then went to Kathmandu. She spoke to us every day until Tuesday. She was joined by her friend on Monday. They stayed together at the same hotel. She last spoke to us at 7.30 pm on Tuesday. She said she would call us on Wednesday, but we didn’t get any calls,” he said.
