Popular Telugu actor Vijay Devarakonda appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Hyderabad on Wednesday, 30 November, in connection with the investments made in his film Liger, released in August this year.

The film was directed by popular director Puri Jagannadh.

Puri Jagannadh, film actor Charmme Kaur and two other businessmen from the film industry in Mumbai produced the film.

The ED officials grilled Vijay Devarakonda to elicit more information about the investments made in the movie.

They sought to know the financial support extended to the film and the persons behind it.

Sources said some persons extended financial support to the film by sending money through hawala channels from Dubai and supported the crew in making the film.

They said a few politicians allegedly played a crucial role in financially supporting the film.

To zero in on the persons behind the budgetary support to the film, the ED started summoning the crew members.

Three production companies — including one belonging to Puri Jagannadh — were associated with the making of the film.

A few days ago, Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur appeared before the ED and shared details with the investigators.

They had appeared before the ED earlier as well, after their names surfaced during a drug racket bust by the Telangana Prohibition and Excise department in 2017.
