Vande Bharat inauguration put off

Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G Kishan Reddy on Saturday, 14 January, said an invitation had been extended to the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for the virtual launch of the Vande Bharat Express by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, 15 January, from the Secunderabad railway station.

“We are leaving it to his wisdom on attending the ceremony,” he told reporters.

Kishan Reddy said he was ready for any debate with the chief minister over funds allocated by the Central government for Telangana, but not with the Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao.

He alleged KTR was worse than the chief minister, his father.

“I rose to this position as I worked in the party from the grassroot level. But KTR became a minister with the blessings of his father,” he said.

Reddy added that there was no need for him to respond to the remarks made by KTR, who was he said was speaking with a lack of proper knowledge.

Kishan Reddy extols Central schemes

Referring to the launch of Vande Bharat express, he reconfirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would flag off the train virtually as a gift to the people of the two Telugu States for Sankranti.

The Central government, led by Modi, was working with an objective to ensure the overall development of the country on all fronts, said Kishan Reddy.

It has fixed a target of providing 10 lakh jobs to unemployed youth, he added.

The Central government is expected to pub;ish a notification in the third week of every month to fill 1 lakh job vacancies.

The Centre has already given two notifications earlier and filled vacancies, and more youth would get appointment letters on 20 January, said Kishan Reddy.

He added that the Central government was also giving top priority to public health, and had accordingly established as many as 50,000 wellness centres across the country.
