TRS MLC L Ramana hospitalised owing to discomfort during ED interrogation

Ramana was summoned for questioning by the ED officials for his suspected involvement in casino operations abroad.

TRS Member of Legislative Council (MLC) L Ramana, complained of sudden illness while being grilled by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sleuths on Friday, 18 November, and was taken to Apollo Hospital in Hyderguda in Hyderabad. He was administered first aid there.

Ramana was summoned for questioning by the ED officials for his suspected involvement in casino operations abroad, organised by one Chikoti Praveen Kumar against whom a case has already been registered.

After the first aid, Ramana was shifted to another hospital in Somajiguda by his family members.

According to sources, Ramana, who underwent heart surgery recently, went to the ED office on the third floor using the staircase.

After some time, he felt dizzy and was unable to answer the questions shot at him.

The ED officials have already quizzed Mahesh Yadav and Dharmeder Yadav, brothers of Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, for possible Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) violations while moving money across the country’s borders.

The ED officials have also grilled B Gurunath Reddy, former MLA from Anantpur in Andhra Pradesh.

The four-month-old case is related to organising tours for those interested in gambling at casinos in places outside India.

During this process, funds are suspected to have been moved across the border in violation of FEMA.

The ED officials have examined a few tour operators also and made searches at the residences of Chikoti Praveen and Madhava Reddy.
