In a fresh offensive against the BJP, Telangana Finance Minister and TRS veteran T Harish Rao on Thursday, 10 November, demanded to know why the BJP had filed petitions in the Telangana High Court to halt the investigations into the cash-for-MLAs case if the saffron party had nothing to do with the farmhouse incident where three persons tried to buy TRS lawmakers.

Speaking to reporters along with Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy, Rao said that the reason the BJP filed the petitions was that it wanted to forestall any unpleasant disclosures that might link the incident to the party bosses.

He said that the BJP leaders were caught in a vortex and were unable to swim out of it.

The BJP had claimed that it did not have anything to do with the religious figures who went to the farmhouse to buy the MLAs, he said, recalling that BJP leaders were caught unawares when after the police arrested the trio.

To wash the dirt off their clothes, Telangana BJP presdient Bandi Sanjay Kumar along with his supporters went to Yadadri Temple in wet clothes and took an oath that his party had nothing to do with the scandal, said Rao.

The minister demanded that the entire episode be probed thoroughly as the BJP leaders were hatching conspiracies fearing that the truth would come out.

He referred to even the Supreme Court referring to the attempt to purchase MLAs while dealing with another case.

Referring to Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan bringing up her ADC Tushar’s name at a press conference, Harish Rao wondered where was the need for her to do so. The state government was referring to Tushar who contested against Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad in the 2019 elections.

The minister said that the BJP had adopted an anti-Telangana approach. “It is vindictive politics. The BJP is in power in 16-17 states. Have no cases been registered against others? Will the BJP leaders ask those cases to be handed over to the CBI?” he asked

Rao also said that it had become a habit for the BJP to topple state governments. It had overthrown governments in eight states, he claimed, adding that when it came to Telangana, its attempts failed and it found itself in hot waters.

He said that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had constituted an SIT to conduct an investigation into the incident in a transparent manner, but the BJP leaders are trying to stall it.
