Synopsis: Three workers from Khammam district lost their lives and one person from Bihar was injured after a wall collapse at a construction site in Hyderabad. Police has launched an investigation into the incident.
Three people lost their lives and one person was injured following a wall collapse at an under-construction building in the LB Nagar area in Hyderabad on Wednesday, 5 February.
The incident occurred when a mud wall adjacent to a cellar pit, which was being excavated, suddenly gave way, trapping labourers working at the site.
Authorities reported that approximately 10 workers were involved in the excavation when the collapse occurred. Among the deceased were three construction workers originally from Sitaramapuram in the Khammam district of Telangana, while others injured in the accident hailed from Bihar.
The victims were identified as K Veeraiah (52), Ramu (22) and Vasu (19), all from the same family. Another worker Dasarath was injured in the incident.
Police and Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams rushed to the scene upon receiving alerts, initiating a rescue operation to retrieve bodies from the debris. The injured were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
An investigation into the cause of the collapse has been launched by local authorities to determine potential lapses in safety protocols. Further details remain pending as officials assess the circumstances surrounding the incident.
