Three die in fire accident at pharmaceutical unit in Telangana

The fire broke out in a room of the warehouse block of the pharma firm when chemicals were being transferred to drums.

Three workers at Mylan Laboratories at Gaddapotharam village in the Kazipally Industrial Area of Sangareddy district in Telangana were killed in a major fire accident on Sunday, 8 January.

The deceased were identified as Lokeshwar Rao (38) from Andhra Pradesh, Paritosh Mehta (40) from West Bengal, and Ranjith Kumar (27) from Bihar.

Speaking to South First, a police officer said that the deceased suffered serious injuries and died while undergoing treatment at the government hospital in Jinnaram.

The fire broke out in a room of the warehouse block of the pharma company. The incident occurred when chemicals and other materials were being transferred to drums and a fire erupted.

“A flash fire was caused by static energy while the solvent was being transferred to another drum inside the warehouse of the industry,” the police officer said.

According to officials, Lokeshwar Rao worked as an Assistant Manager and the other two were assistants.

The bodies were shifted to hospital. Police registered a case and are investigating the cause for the incident.
