The students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Schools (TGSWRS) would henceforth like “surprise inspections” by the chief minister and other ministers.
Thanks to the surprise inspection on Saturday, 14 December, the students of one such school in Chilkur near Hyderabad had a stroke of luck.
They had a feast waiting for them since the chief minister was to visit their school for a “surprise inspection” to check the food quality. However, there seemed to be an intel leak as the school authorities prepared a wonderful feast, even better than the one served at weddings.
The spread was mouthwatering as dainty items were there, just for the asking.
After reaching the school, Revanth Reddy interacted with the students and then gave a boring lecture on the benefits they would have if they studied hard even though the students were more interested in the food, whose aroma was teasing their olfactory senses by then.
After the speech, the chief minister, flanked by two boys, began their mid-day meal. With the presence of the chief minister in between them, they were a little nervous in the beginning but somehow managed to overcome the initial problem and savoured the items served to them.
The officials called the event the inauguration of a common diet plan for the students. Even though the purpose of the chief minister’s visit was to check the quality of food, it ended up as a feast with officials converting the occasion into the launching of the new diet plan.
Those serving food were in attendance with all attention as the chief minister was dining.
The school officials stood waiting with buckets of several items ready to rush to the chief minister to serve him, the moment he gave the signal.
Needless to say, it was a feast the students would remember, as the smell and taste are likely to remain on their taste buds for a very long time to come.
The situation was more or less the same at the schools that the other ministers visited. Interestingly, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), on Friday itself, issued a press release giving the names of the villages and schools that the ministers would visit on Saturday.
However, they did not mention which school the chief minister would visit, even though it was revealed that it would be in either Hyderabad or Rangareddy district.
They tried to maintain an element of surprise but the way the food was organised and the programme set up indicated a major breach in information about the impending “inspection.”.
As the chief minister left, many of them may have had a nap. Blame it on sumptuous food! Siesta after fiesta!
