Synopsis: A Rajitha (30) from Ameenpur, Sangareddy, murdered her three children on 27 March to be with her former classmate, Shiva Kumar. Initially claiming food poisoning, she later confessed to smothering the children. Investigations, including phone records, revealed her plan. Both Rajitha and Shiva Kumar were arrested on 2 April and produced in court.
A heart-wrenching crime has shaken the town of Ameenpur, Sangareddy district, as police have uncovered the brutal murder of three children at the hands of their mother.
Initially suspected to be a case of food poisoning, the investigation revealed a cold-blooded plan carried out by the accused, A Rajitha (30), who allegedly killed her children to start a new life with her former classmate.
The incident took place on the night of 27 March in Raghavendra Colony, Ameenpur. The victims—Saikrishna (12), Madhu Priya (10), and Gautham (8)—were found dead under suspicious circumstances, while their mother, Rajitha, was hospitalized the next morning, claiming severe stomach pain.
Her husband, A Chennaiah (50), a water tanker driver, told police that the family had dinner together that night. Rajitha and the children ate curd rice, while Chennaiah had dal rice. After dinner, he left for work in Chandanagar and returned home around 11 PM, finding everyone asleep.
At around 3 AM on 28 March, Rajitha complained of intense stomach pain and was rushed to the hospital. Later, when the children were checked, they were found dead, raising immediate suspicion.
Earlier, Rajitha misled authorities, claiming the children died due to food poisoning. However, the police, unconvinced by her statement, launched a detailed investigation. Postmortem reports ruled out food poisoning and pointed towards asphyxiation.
Phone records and call history analysis revealed that Rajitha had been in frequent contact with Shiva Kumar (30), a man from her past.
When confronted, Rajitha broke down and confessed to smothering her children to death around 10 PM on 27 March.
On 27 March at 6 PM, Rajitha spoke to Shiva Kumar over the phone, discussing her plan.
At 10 PM, she smothered all three children one by one, ensuring their deaths before her husband returned home.
To divert suspicion, she later pretended to have food poisoning and got herself admitted to the hospital.
Rajitha, also known as Lavanya, was married to Chennaiah in 2013. This was Chennaiah’s second marriage after his first wife passed away.
Their marriage took place when Rajitha was pursuing her Intermediate second year. There was a 20-year age gap between them.
For a while, the couple lived harmoniously, but over time, their relationship soured due to frequent arguments.
Six months ago, Rajitha attended a Class 10 reunion at her parents’ village in Godukondla, Chinthapally mandal, Nalgonda district, where she reconnected with her former classmate Shiva Kumar.
Soon, their friendship turned into a relationship, and they began meeting regularly.
Shiva Kumar, who was unmarried, expressed his willingness to marry Rajitha, but on one condition—she had to come alone, without her children. This led Rajitha to hatch a sinister plan to eliminate them.
However, the police quickly unraveled her deception after analyzing her phone records and medical reports. Following her confession, Rajitha and Shiva Kumar were arrested and produced before the court on Wednesday, 2 April.
