Telangana integrated market

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday, 12 February, said that the government would construct one integrated market in every Assembly constituency in the state.

The effort is to have one such market for every 20 lakh people in the state.

Replying to queries of the members of the Assembly, the chief minister said there were not enough markets for people in Hyderabad and the government was now planning to increase their number.

KCR said that the Monda Market in Secunderabad, constructed about 120 years ago, had impressed him as it had been designed and built in consonance with health guidelines even in those days.

He said the market presents sellers seated at a height which is essential as the elevation prevents harmful bacteria from finding their way into the vegetables and meat.

At Monda Market, meat is also sold but one would not get any smell at all. In fact, the meshes in the stalls where meat is sold were set up more than 100 years ago, but they are still serving the purpose.

Markets to have features of Monda Market

He said he had told the district collectors that the integrated vegetable and meat markets in districts should have features of the Monda market.

Acting on my instructions some collectors constructed market yards very well and the one in Narayanpet takes the cake.

The government was planning to have at least one such market in every Assembly constituency, he said and pointed out that at each market, children’s cages are also being proposed so that the parents could leave their children there to play as they purchase vegetables and while leaving they could pick up their children

Referring to the menace of the spurious seeds, particularly in the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district, the chief minister said that the government was dealing with the criminals with an iron hand.

“We have been sending them to jail under the Preventive Detention Act.
