Former Telangana TDP president Kasani Gnaneshwar Mudiraj joined the BRS in the presence of Telangana Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao at the latter’s Erraveli farmhouse in Gajwel on Friday, 3 November.

Calling him an old friend, KCR welcomed Gnaneshwar and his followers into the party and assured them of a better future in politics.

“Gnaneshwar should have joined the BRS long back. If he had joined earlier, a ticket for the Assembly elections would have been given to him,” said KCR.

“Banda Prakash, who belongs to the same Mudiraj community, was made a Rajya Sabha member and later an MLC by the BRS,” added KCR.

He gave assurances that after the Assembly elections, he would convene a meeting with the Mudiraj community members under the leadership of Gnaneshwar to chalk out a plan and accommodate them in various posts.

“There will be plenty of posts like Hyderabad Mayor, ZPTC Chairman etc, we will discuss them,” he said.

Miffed with TDP

Gnaneshwar resigned from the TDP on 30 October. In his resignation letter, he said that he was unhappy with the decision taken by the TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu not to contest in Telangana Assembly elections.

In a letter addressed to Naidu, he said that he was quitting the party as he was unable to ensure strong support to the cadre and leaders who had planned to contest the Assembly polls in Telangana and later suffered because of Naidu’s decision.

The decision not to contest the elections hurt him severely, he had said. He also pointed out he had undertaken various activities in Telangana following Naidu’s advice.

After serving as the chairman of Ranga Reddy Zilla Parishad for five years till 2006, Gnaneshwar was elected as an MLC in 2007.

In November 2022, he was appointed the president of the Telangana TDP. He is serving as the national president of the Mudiraj Mahasabha and had earlier founded the Mana Party in 2007.
