Synopsis: Telangana launched the two-day Telangana Rising Global Summit on 8 December, aiming for a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and $3 trillion by 2047. CM Revanth Reddy unveiled the innovative CURE-PURE-RARE economic zones model and a 2047 Vision Document. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma praised the state’s stability and inclusive growth. Nobel laureates, global CEOs and Union ministers attended the high-profile event.
Telangana rolled out the red carpet on Monday, 8 December to the world, as the two day Telangana Rising Global Summit opened at Bharat Future City with an ambitious roadmap to catapult the state into the league of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
In his inaugural address, Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma set the tone with a call for Telangana to emerge as a US$ 3 trillion economy by 2047 under the “Telangana Rising” banner.
He described the present government as stable and transparent, leading in innovations and committed to rapid progress. He underscored the ongoing massive infrastructure expansion—airports, railways, roads—and stressed that priority was being accorded to every sector to ensure broad-based growth.
On the social empowerment front, he spotlighted initiatives such as empowering women farmers and handing over “bus management” to women’s groups as part of the government’s deeper commitment to inclusive development.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy built on the Governor’s vision with historical reflection, political resolve and economic ambition. Evoking the midnight of 15 August, 1947, he reminded the audience that Telangana’s future aspirations must be rooted in the same spirit that guided India’s founding fathers.
He said: “When India achieved independence, our leaders made a tryst with destiny. Today, as we debate our own future, we draw inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi and Dr BR Ambedkar,” he said.
Under CM Revanth Reddy’s forward-looking leadership, Telangana is bringing its bold, futuristic vision to life.

The CM underlined that Telangana’s journey—from a decades-long struggle for statehood to becoming India’s youngest state in 2014— was built on the shoulders of its people.
“After 10 years, we are now striving to become India’s most developed state,” he said, stressing that the next two decades would determine whether Telangana merely keeps pace with national growth or breaks new ground.
At the core of the address were two bold numerical targets: transforming Telangana into a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047. While these goals appear lofty, Reddy insisted the state has already punched above its weight.
“Though we are just 2.9 percent of India’s population, we contribute nearly 5 percent to national GDP. By 2047, I want Telangana to contribute 10 percent,” he declared.
The CM also unveiled India’s first “three-zone economic architecture”—a structured redesign of the state’s development model. Labelled CURE, PURE and RARE, the zones aim to segregate economic activity:
CURE (Core Urban Region Economy): high-end services, technology, innovation and financial services concentrated in metropolitan clusters.
PURE (Peri-Urban Region Economy): manufacturing, industry, logistics and supply-chain hubs around the city’s expanding periphery.
RARE (Rural Agriculture Region Economy): agriculture, agri-processing, rural entrepreneurship and farm-linked industries spanning the hinterlands.
Reddy cited Guangdong Province in China as a benchmark and noted that lessons had been drawn from Japan, South Korea, Germany and Singapore. “We are not just ready to compete with them; we invite them to collaborate,” he added.
The summit itself, packed with 27 panel sessions, mirrors global ambition. Sessions on AI, quantum computing, green mobility, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, agritech, healthcare, logistics, women entrepreneurship, sports innovation and creative industries are expected to run back-to-back across the two days.
The state government is also expected to unveil the Telangana Rising 2047 Vision Document on Tuesday, 9 December, prepared with support from the Indian School of Business, NITI Aayog, the Central government and subject experts.
The CM acknowledged this collaboration with gratitude, saying the collective effort reflected “the dreams and expectations of the people.”
Those who spoke at the inaugural included Nobel Laureates Abhijit Banerjee (virtual) and Kailash Satyarthi, Trump Media Technology Group CEO Eric Swider, World Economic Forum CEO Jeremy Jurgens (virtual), Information Technology and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, TVS Supply Chain Solutions Chairman R Dinesh, Apollo Hospitals Executive Vice-Chairperson Shobana Kamineni, and Union Minister of Coal G Kishan Reddy.
