The name that came as a surprise was that of C Krishna Yadav, who has been in political exile for a long time after he figured in the Abdul Kareem Telgi stamp paper scam.
He was a two-time MLA from Himayatnagar constituency in Hyderabad and served as labour minister from 1994 to 1999 in Chandrababu Naidu’s Cabinet in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh. He is a prominent BC leader who joined the BJP recently.
Former BJP state vice president Yendala Laxminarayana is a prominent leader from North Telangana.
Actor P Babu Mohan who would test his luck at Andole is a senior politician and is well known in the constituency as he was elected to the Assembly from the same constituency three times in the erstwhile Medak district. He served as a minister for labour in Chandrababu Naidu’s Cabinet from 2002 to 2004.
In 2014, he parted ways with the TDP and joined the TRS (now BRS), and in 2018, he joined the BJP.
NVSS Prabhakar, who is being fielded from Uppal, won from there in 2014. When he was MLA, he was deputy floor leader of BJP. In 2018, he lost to Bethi Subhas Reddy of BRS.
Former minister Marri Shashidhar Reddy, was a four-time MLA from Sanatnagar for the Congress. He left the grand old party following differences with the TPCC president and the BJP is now fielding him from his home constituency.
He is the son of the former chief minister of erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh late M Channa Reddy. He was a member of the National Disaster Management Authority and the convener of the National Level Task Force on Naxal Violence.
J Chittaranjan Das, created ripples in the 1989 Assembly elections in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh state when he defeated TDP founder NT Rama Rao (NTR), who was considered invincible in Kalwakurthy. He joined the BRS in 2019.
He left the BRS and joined the BJP in September this year. He had also served as a minister in the Congress government in the undivided Andhra Pradesh.
The BJP is fielding Ashwathama Reddy from Wanaparthy. He was the convener of the Joint Action Council of employees unions which led the 2019 TSRTC employees’ 48-day-old strike to a disaster. After the strike failed, he went into political oblivion. The demand of the employees was the merger of the corporation in the government.
