Synopsis: Telangana CM Revanth Reddy’s remark that HYDRAA was inspired by Hitler has triggered controversy, with state police seeking that X remove a video showing him in Nazi attire. BRS leader Dr Krishank ridiculed the charges levelled against him in the notice.
Revanth Reddy’s “I have taken inspiration from Hitler” (while naming HYDRAA) has now led to the Telangana Police reaching out to X for a takedown.
A video posted by a Dr Krishank on the platform depicting Revanth in Hitler’s attire and hairdo, with the CM’s own statement as audio in the background, prompted this.
Hyderabad’s Superintendent of Police Harshvardhan in his “urgent request” to take down the post mentioned that the video uses “provocative language and imagery that may mislead viewers, harm the reputation of the viewers and has the potential to disturb peace and tranquillity”.
It also asked X to avoid letting the user know about the takedown request as it could “cause them to flee or conceal their identity”.
Section 79(3)(b) of the IT Act, Section 352 of the BNS—intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace— and Section 353(1)(B), BNS—statements or reports inciting public mischief, fear, or alarm— were invoked by the Superintendent in the letter.
Dr Krishank, who is from the opposition BRS, while sharing the developments, tweeted why he found the charges ridiculous.
“Whose voice is in the video? CM Revanth himself,” he pointed out.
Dr Krishank also addressed the charge that the “content depicts a cartoon caricature of a public official in a Nazi-style uniform with references to Adolf Hitler”.
“Yes Sir, Because Mr Chief Minister said he is inspired by the Nazi Adolf Hitler & his Assassin Team (sic),” he replied.

It was at an event in Bengaluru that Revanth had ‘revealed’ how HYDRAA (the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency) was inspired by Hitler.
“‘Hydra’, is Hitler’s favourite word. His core team was called Hydra, who could assassinate anyone. So, I have taken inspiration from Hitler and named it as HYDRAA,” the Telangana CM had said.
Both BRS and BJP criticised the remarks for displaying a “dictatorial” mindset.
Union Minister and Secunderabad BJP MP G Kishan Reddy tweeted: “Congress’s dangerous Hitler, Emergency mindset is out in the open yet again. Revanth Reddy is now openly boasting that Hitler inspired him to create HYDRAA and is comparing his demolitions in Hyderabad to those in war-torn countries like Iran and Israel…”
“I demolished like anything. You can go to Iran. You can go to Israel. You can compare those demolitions with this,” Revanth had stated at the event.
Interestingly, Hitler actually did not have a “Hydra” team. Revanth, in fact, might have been inspired by the comics.
It was in a Marvel Comics story that the neo-fascist fictional terrorist organisation Hydra made its appearance. With “cut off one head, two more shall take its place” as its motto, it had at its head the super villain Baron Wolfgang von Strucker, a former Nazi officer. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby were behind the creation.
The Telangana CM might have conflated this memory and associated Hydra with Hitler.
