Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate to the nation and lay foundation stones for various projects worth ₹7,076 crore during his visit to Hyderabad on 19 January.

After landing at the airport, he will first flag-off the country’s eighth Vande Bharat Express at 10 am from Secunderabad Railway Station.

The Vande Bharat Express will run between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam, via Vijayawada, in approximately eight hours. It is the second Vande Bharat Express of South India after the one between Mysuru and Chennai.

The intermediate stops envisaged for the train include Warangal, Khammam, Vijayawada, and Rajahmundry, said Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy.

Inaugurating national highways

After laying the foundation stone for the development of Secunderabad Railway Station worth ₹699 crore, the Prime Minister will arrive at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad.

There he will lay the foundation stone for about 150 km of national highway roads that would be built at a cost of ₹1,850 crore.

This includes 103 km of NH 167N in the Mahabubnagar-Chincholi section and 46 km of NH 161B in the Nizampet-Narayankhed-Bidar section.

Railway project

He will then lay the foundation stone for the Railway Periodic Overhauling (POH) workshop to be constructed at Kazipet, at a cost of ₹521 crore.

At the POH, railway coaches are critically examined for corrosion, structural damage, and stability to ascertain their fitness.

The tender for constructing the POH has been floated and the project is expected to generate direct employment for 3,000 people.

The prime minister will also dedicate to the nation 85 km of railway line that has been doubled between Secunderabad and Mahabubnagar, constructed at a cost of ₹1,410 crore.

For the students of IIT Hyderabad

Following this, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate to the nation various buildings constructed at IIT Hyderabad to accommodate 5,000 students, at a cost of ₹2,597 crore.

This includes academic buildings for each department, 18 hostel buildings that can accommodate 4,500 students, five faculty and staff towers to accommodate 250 families, technology research and innovation parks, a research centre complex, convention and knowledge centres, a guesthouse, a lecture hall complex, a campus school, a healthcare facility, a married students’ hostel, undergraduate core labs, and administration blocks.

After these programmes, the prime minister will participate in a public meeting organised at Parade Grounds and address the people, Kishan Reddy added.
