Telangana CM Revanth Reddy urged to facilitate peace talks with maoists
Synopsis: In Wednesday’s wrap of Telangana news – Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met the Peace Talks Committee, which urged him to facilitate dialogue between the Union Government and Maoists. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met with the Peace Talks Committee, which urged him to initiate dialogue between the Union Government and Maoist groups.
At the meeting in Hyderabad, Professor Haragopal, Anwar Khan, Durga Prasad, Jampanna, and Ravi Chander submitted a memorandum. Revanth assured them that Telangana views Naxalism from a social lens rather than treating it purely as a law and order problem.
Former High Court judge A Rajashekhar Reddy and former District Sessions judge BS Jagjeevan Kumar were sworn in as the Telangana Lokayukta and Deputy Lokayukta, respectively.
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma administered the oath at Raj Bhavan. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, and other leaders attended the ceremony.
K Ramakrishna Rao, who will take over as Telangana’s Chief Secretary on 30 April after Shanthi Kumari’s superannuation, paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
The government announced that Shanthi Kumari will be appointed Vice Chairman of the MCR HRD Institute of Telangana and will also hold additional charge as the institution’s Director General.
