Synopsis: In Thursday’s wrap of Telangana news— CM Revanth Reddy made controversial remarks about former CM KCR, mocking his stature, prompting strong condemnation from BRS leaders KT Rama Rao and K Kavitha. Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy announced the formation of the Future City Development Authority (FCDA) to develop economic, industrial, and urban infrastructure in the Rangareddy district, including proximity to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

CM Revanth Reddy’s objectionable remarks against KCR

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy often seems to forget the stature of his position when targeting former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his family, regardless of context and time.

On Wednesday, March 12, during a function where he distributed appointment letters to the unemployed youth, Revanth Reddy suddenly launched a scathing attack on KCR. His remarks were particularly in response to the BRS’s criticism that he does not measure up to KCR in stature. He stated, “You thought you had the stature, but the people sent you to the stretcher. If you continue like this, they might send you to the mortuary.”

Taking strong exception to these comments, the BRS retaliated. Party working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) wrote on X: “This mad dog has crossed every single limit of decency. I urge his family members to take him to a mental health facility at the earliest, or else, in his frustrated state, he might start biting everyone around. Get well soon, Cheap Minister.”

BRS MLC K Kavitha also condemned Revanth Reddy’s remarks, in a message on n X: “His comments on KCR are highly objectionable. He has proved that he lacks humanity. He must change his attitude, as the people of Telangana are watching him closely. If he does not, he would get punishment twice as severe.”

Formation of Future City Development Authority (FCDA)

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy took a major step towards his “Future City” vision with the formation of the Future City Development Authority (FCDA).

The state government issued a GO on Thursday, 13 March, constituting the FCDA under Section 3A of the Telangana Urban Areas (Development) Act, 1975. The chief minister will chair the authority, with the Municipal Administration Minister as vice-chairman.

Covering 765.28 sq km across 56 villages in seven mandals of Rangareddy district, the FCDA aims to develop economic and industrial clusters, improve urban amenities, and boost connectivity with radial roads and metro expansion.

With its strategic proximity to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, the Future City project will also include education hubs like Young India Skill University.

Key members of the FCDA include the Chief Secretary, Special Chief Secretaries of Finance and IT, Principal Secretaries of Municipal Administration and Forests, HMDA Commissioner, TSIIC MD, and the Rangareddy District Collector.

Elderly man beaten to death over a minor dispute

An elderly man was beaten to death by a group of youngsters over a minor dispute at Baba Nagar in Kanchanbagh late Wednesday night. The incident was caught on CCTV.

Police identified the victim as Zakir Khan (62), a grocery store owner in ‘C Block’ Baba Nagar. The altercation began when he asked the pan shop customers, who had occupied space in front of his store by sitting on chairs, to remove them.

This led to a heated argument, and a group of youngsters attacked Zakir, punching him in the face and chest before pushing him down. Having undergone open-heart surgery in 2016, Zakir collapsed and died on the spot due to the assault. His two sons were also attacked, according to Kanchanbagh police.

Authorities have launched an investigation and are working to track down the suspects.
